Trekking Partners Nepal ("we", "us") runs trekkingpartnersnepal.com, a website that helps trekkers find partners for treks in Nepal. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- From your Google account, when you sign in: your name, email address and profile photo. We never see your Google password.
- Profile details you add: birth year (we show your age, not your birth year), nationality, and optionally gender, languages, trekking experience and a short bio.
- Content you post: trek posts (region, route, dates, group size, description) and comments.
- Reports you submit about other users or content.
- Basic technical data: Cloudflare Web Analytics records anonymous page-view statistics without cookies or personal identifiers. Our hosting and login providers process IP addresses for security.
2. What is public
To help trekkers decide whom to walk with, the following is visible to other visitors: your display name, profile photo, age, nationality, bio, experience, and the treks and comments you post. Your email address is never shown publicly. Anything you choose to write in a post or comment, including contact details such as a phone number, can be seen by others, so share contact details with care.
3. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and show your profile, treks and comments.
- To keep the site safe: preventing spam, investigating reports and removing harmful content.
- To send essential account messages and, if you agree, notifications such as new comments on your trek.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Services we use
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
- Google: "Sign in with Google".
- Cloudflare: hosting, security, spam protection (Turnstile) and anonymous analytics.
These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside Nepal.
5. Cookies
We use only the storage needed to keep you signed in (set by Supabase) and to protect forms from spam (Cloudflare Turnstile). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
6. How long we keep data
We keep your account and content while your account is active. Trek posts with past dates are automatically marked closed but remain visible unless you delete them. If you delete your account, we remove your profile, treks and comments within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to deal with abuse or legal obligations.
7. Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete your profile details, treks and comments at any time from your account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete your account, by emailing [email protected].
- Revoke the site's access to your Google account at any time in your Google Account settings.
8. Age
The site is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users on the site.
